Loom Room
The Loom Room is a dedicated weaving studio based in The Orkney Islands. Our light-filled studio is just a ten minute walk away from Kirkwall, and is kitted out with the best weaving equipment to hand weave your own projects, whether you're a beginner or have years of experience.
What's Available
We're open each Saturday, offering our Introduction to Weaving Course, Weaving Taster Sessions, Placemat Weaving and Scarf Weaving.
Rent
If you’re an experienced weaver, our looms are available to hire on a monthly basis, with 24 hour access to our studio and weaving equipment.
You can book your monthly slot here. We also offer one to one support sessions with our tutors, which you can book here.

Where is the Loom Room?
Our Loom Room is located in central Kirkwall, on Garrison Road.
What is the capacity of Loom Room?
We can haveup to 5 artists in working at one time.
Can I drop in for a visit?
Every week on Saturday between 1pm-5pm, we are opening up our studio for you to bring in your own loom. Find out more about booking.
As a beginner, can I use the Loom Room at all?
Our sessions are suitable for total beginners or more experienced weavers, so take a look at our upcoming workshops to see what’s coming up this term. We only offer rent to experience weavers.
Do I have to know how to weave and use machinery to rent the space?
To rent our space you need to have experience weaving and using the machinery, but for those that are new to the world of weaving, we offer a six session Introduction to Weaving course.
